Programs and Initiatives
LEAPS After School Program
The goal of the Lottery for Education Afterschool Programs (LEAPs) is to provide Tennessee students with academic enrichment opportunities that reinforce and complement the regular academic program. Available at select elementary and middle schools in Hamilton County.
Urban League STEAM Summer Camp
Project Ready Summer STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Camp empowers rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders with the opportunity to gain, explore, create, and innovate through hands-on STEAM experiences, mentorship, and early exposure to exciting STEAM career pathways.

Project Ready Mentor & National Achievers Society
Through the National Urban League’s Project Ready Mentor curriculum, NAS is a signature academic, cultural, and leadership development program that prepares students in grades 9th-12th for college, careers, and life. We aim to recognize students for their academic achievements and reinforce the importance of personal and academic success in preparation for post-secondary education. Applications will open for the 2023-2024 school year this summer.
Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
The Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) is a free, 6 month-long program that includes one-hour weekly cohort sessions with a lifestyle facilitator, goal setting & accountability for healthy lifestyle practices, and more.
Family Prosperity Initiative
By 2025, our goal is to help enable 75-100 high-potential, disadvantaged persons to improve their quality of life through the Urban League’s Family Prosperity Initiative. The FPI provides intensive case management, including wraparound support, to address family prosperity through credential attainment, coaching/mentorship, financial planning and career advancement opportunities, with the goal of lifting 100 families out of poverty by 2025.
Workforce Development
The Center for Education and Family Empowerment’s Workforce Development division provides programming through our Family Prosperity Initiative, which takes an integrated services approach to address family prosperity through programs and activities that foster educational attainment, personal well-being, financial stability, and increased economic power for adults and their families.
Senior Community Service Employment Program
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is a program that provides practical job training to seniors aged 55 or older who are low-income, unemployed, or underemployed. The program equips seniors with the necessary skills and expertise to successfully re-enter the workforce and secure long-term employment prospects, empowering them to unlock a brighter future.
