The Urban League of Greater Chattanooga, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the TN Housing Development Agency (THDA) provides home ownership counseling to help individuals navigate the many requirements of purchasing a home, including an evaluation financial strength and credit scores, identifying potential lending barriers, and mortgage finance options. Owning a home also comes with many responsibilities, and home ownership counseling provides tools for basic financial management—including budgeting, saving, credit, and debt management—to ensure home owners maintain sound financial health and credit ratings and to reduce the rate of mortgage default.
