Chattanooga Urban League Young Professionals Lead the Way in 2012
| ULYP members lead a voter registration drive. |
In 2009, the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga launched the Urban League Young Professionals (ULYP) association to encourage the next generation of leaders to connect with one another and explore issues that impact Chattanooga and its residents. Just three years later, the ULYP is thriving, with more than 100 members whose leadership and vision is making a positive impact on Chattanooga. Over the past several months, ULYP members have attended the National Urban League Whitney M. Young Leadership Conference; helped paint a recreation room at the Westside Community Center; educated members on their personal brand with public relations expert Albert Waterhouse; written letters to our Senators urging support for the Urban Jobs Act; educated members on the Tennessee Voter ID laws; and raised funds and donated toys and clothing for 13 of the community's neediest children.
As Chantelle Roberson, ULYP President, looks ahead for 2012, she has issued a call to action for ULYP members to "get involved and be the change you seek" and to "reflect on what you have accomplished, be encouraged and strive to do better, accomplish more, go farther in 2012." This message resonates not only with the ULYP but anyone in Chattanooga who envisions a thriving city where all generations work toward common goals. To find out how you can get involved in the ULYP, click here or call 423-756-1762.
